The primary function of Chevrolet safety features is to keep you and your passengers protected on the road. Many of these features can also help you prevent collisions resulting from distracted driving. Rick Weaver Chevrolet is here to highlight a few notable ones that many new models offer.

Following Distance Indicator

Following Distance Indicator comes with the standard Chevy Safety Assist™ suite. It shows the time in seconds until you reach the space between you and the vehicle you’re following. This can help distracted drivers avoid rear-end collision risks in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Safety Alert Seat

The Safety Alert Seat uses multi-directional haptic driver’s seat vibrations to warn you of potential collisions. It can also alert you via audible beeps if you enable the feature. It’s available for several models, including the Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

Front Pedestrian Braking

Front Pedestrian Braking is also included with the Chevy Safety Assist suite. At speeds of five to 50 mph, it can detect pedestrians in front of you. It also provides emergency braking to mitigate or prevent collisions.

Driver Attention Assist

Another Chevrolet safety feature that helps prevent distracted driving is Driver Attention Assist. This system, typically bundled with Super Cruise®, uses camera technology to monitor your driving habits and detect signs of drowsiness or distraction, including eye gaze and head position. If you look away from the road for too long, it’ll provide audio and visual alerts. In extreme situations, it can even bring your vehicle to a stop and contact emergency services.
